Dr. Yi Yang

Visiting Scholar

Dr. Yi Yang , a graduate of Peking University Medical School with a Doctor of Medicine degree (2002-2010) and a postdoctoral researcher (2015-2017), currently holds the position of Director of Neurosurgery at Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University. Concurrently, she serves as the Executive Associate Director of the Brain-Machine Interface Translational Research Center at the National Center for Neurological Diseases. Dr. Yang is presently an academic visitor in the Tan lab, commencing her one-year tenure in June 2023.

Her primary focus centers on the systematic diagnosis, prognosis, and neural modulation treatment of disorders of consciousness. Additionally, she delves into exploring the clinical applications of innovative technologies in brain-machine interfaces. Noteworthy accolades include her recognition as a Young Scholar at the Beijing Brain Science Research Center in 2021, her appointment as a professor at the Beijing Brain Diseases Research Institute, and her receipt of the Second Prize in the Beijing Medical Science and Technology Awards. In 2022, Dr. Yang successfully secured funding as the project leader for the "2030 Scientific and Technological Innovation Brain Science Research" special young scientist project. During the same year, she earned a nomination for the Shulan Medical Young Scientist Award and was honored with the Asia-Pacific Hygeia Goddess Neurosurgery Doctor Award.
