Melissa Jones

Post-doctoral Neuroscientist

Melissa completed her BSc(Hons) in Biomedical Science with a specialism in Neuroscience and Mental Health in 2016 at Imperial College London. She then completed her PGCE in Secondary Science with the University of South Wales Trinity Saint David, working as a teacher for 2 years through the Teach First Leadership Development Programme. In 2019, Melissa completed her MSc in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience at Anglia Ruskin University, focussing on the impacts of high-level schizotypy on the perception of visual illusions. She then progressed onto a PhD at the University of Leicester and the University of Sheffield, using Neuropixels to examine the modulation of neuronal firing rates across different brain state transitions with a special interest into the modulation of visual responses from baseline to psychedelic states.

In 2023, Melissa joined Andrew Sharrot’s research group in the MRC BNDU at the University of Oxford as a Postdoctoral Neuroscientist, investigating the impact of closed-loop stimulation on memory performance.
